Lucy and Daniel first met on the tracks at the Toowoomba Weetwood Races on April 13th, 2014.
Dust, I mean love was in the air on that autumn day and two unsuspecting souls were about to cross paths**
It was Lucy who made the first move. Spotting this tall, handsome man with a couple of cans in one hand and a race slip in the other - she approached. What are the odds? She thought. That this guy will dance with me?
Narrator: 100 billion to one.
See, Dan didn't really dance. His three dance moves were inspired by his Year 9 Disco. Was the sprinkler still cool? he pondered as Lucy dragged his crew to Fibbers Hotel. A sticky floored pub with the best kind of music.
She danced with everyone as Dan shuffled his feet, bopping his head. He knew he was next.
She shimmied over towards him. She liked him. A lot.
Lucy went in for the kiss.
"Uh. I don't kiss girls on the dance floor." - Dan said - remembering what his mum had told him before his Year 9 Disco.
Lucy was confused. But she loved a challenge. She started to walk away and stumbled.
"But If you fall, I'll pick you up. I'll pick you up".
The rest is history.
For those playing at home - I'll get you up to date with the details.
After eight months of courting, Dan moved to Sydney for work. The couple weren't fazed, moving up tiers in their frequent flyer programs.
After three years, Lucy and Daniel moved into their first home together in Canberra. They become parents to many indoor plants, fish and a beloved air fryer. They would sneak to the Sweeney holiday home on the south coast - and became regulars at the Mollymook Winery - Cupitts.
On June 1st 2019, Daniel proposed at Cupitt's in front of the fireplace within their guest house. He surprised Lucy with the travelling circus the next day.
Please join us, back where it all began as we swap a Bridle for a Bride and a Betting Circle for a Dance Floor. We can't wait to celebrate taking risks, winning bets and the love of Daniel and Lucy.
